How the system works

Read the employment framework before the vacancy.

Queensland vacancies commonly use AO classifications for administrative streams, but health services, schools, statutory bodies and other streams may differ. The role description and ‘how to apply’ section determine the evidence and format—there is no safe universal template.

Application method

Build the submission the panel asked for.

  • Treat the role description’s success profile and application instructions as authoritative.
  • Many roles request a short statement or response explaining how your experience makes you suitable; observe the page limit.
  • Use outcome-led examples that demonstrate the required capabilities, not a list of calendar tasks.
  • Check location, temporary end date, talent-pool language and mandatory screening before investing in the application.

Executive-office reality

What the title may hide

Brisbane has central-department and statutory-body demand; hospital and health services, education and regional agencies create a wider state market. Ministerial and director-general offices have different cadence and sensitivities from operational executives.

Search vocabulary

Use more than “Executive Assistant”.

Review “Executive Officer” results by duties: the title may describe policy, program or secretariat work rather than direct executive support.
